A feature wall mural depicting a mirage-like desert scene with lush date palms and sand dunes. This reinterpretation of the original artist’s romantic vision has a subtle grasscloth texture print in the background to offer depth and interest. Imagine gazing out and perhaps wandering along the sandy path between the palm trees to discover where it leads.
One roll contains 4 panels (A, B, C & D) for the full design. The design can be repeated out to cover further walls by using another roll in the same order (A B C D) until the required area is papered. Depending upon the wall height, the panel can be trimmed at the top, bottom or both to create the desired scene.
Date Palm Mural Archive inspiration: Date grove near Alexandria, Elijah Walton (1832–80), watercolour, Egypt, 1860–70
Elijah Walton was an English Victorian painter, who debuted his work at the Royal Academy and the British Institution in the 1850s. After moving to London, he married and travelled on honeymoon to the Alps and to Egypt, places that would provide him with subject matter for the rest of his life. Keeping a sketchbook of his experiences in a Bedouin desert encampment, he recorded remarkable studies of date palm trees and created this almost dream-like landscape.
